About Me
I have played guitar for many years purely on an amateur level and I decided to make myself an electric guitar rather than spend a small fortune buying another one (you can never have too many!). This sparked my interest in making instruments.
As I also have an interest in mandolin, making one of those seemed to be the next logical step. So I bought myself some plans and wood, and proceeded to build an F5 style mandolin with an inlayed headstock. This was my first experience with shell inlay.
I was pleased with my first results, although I made a few mistakes along the way. I did some searching around and found a few websites on the subject, notably the work of Larry Robinson, I bought his book “The Art of Inlay”, and after some further study, I was hooked.
I have also completed a steel string acoustic guitar with a Celtic theme running through the inlays, you can see pictures of this in my Gallery.
